RubyWorld Conference Executive Committee is inviting speakers from around the world for the RubyWorld Conference 2022!
How about you!? Do you have information to present to the world in relation to efforts on Ruby? You are cordially invited to apply! Please see below for Application details and guidelines. * There is a possibility that the contents will be changed or canceled due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
RubyWorld Conference 2022, now in its 14th year, has been decided to be held offline in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture for the first time in three years.
The presentation will be in a form where you can choose either “presentation at the venue” or “ presentation by recording video distribution”.
General outline of RubyWorld Conference 2022
1) Date
From November 10th(Thu) to 11th(Fri) in 2022
※Presentation times will be determined after Speakers have been chosen.
2) Venue
Shimane Prefectural Convention Center “Kunibiki Messe”
3) Presentation form
One of the following
Presentation at the venue
Presentation by recording video distribution
Application Guideline
1) Targeted applicants
Those who are able to deliver a presentation with content in accordance with one of the following themes.
The 5 themes for presenters
Introducing the trend of cutting edge technology relating to Ruby
Introducing examples of system development
The introduction of Ruby examples from the user perspective
Introducing the efforts to deal with Ruby as a public organization platform
The introduction of education and study dealing with Ruby
2) Technical fields
In the above recruitment area, we are hoping to see applications using Ruby in various technical fields and Ruby research contents as below.
Web applications
IoT(Edge computing, Sensor devices), Mechanical control
Infrastructure
Data analysis, Data utilization
3) Deadline for Application

1. Summary of the presenter
Description within 1 page (A4-size, 8×10) (in PDF format) including:
Presentation theme (any one of the 5) described above
Title of presentation
Name of the presenter with contact information
Presenter time slot preference 15 minutes or 30 minutes
Languages for application and presentation (Japanese or English)
The applicant gave a similar presentation on the same subject the intend to present at RWC2022 (Yes or No)
If the applicant gave a similar presentation on the same subject they intend to present at RWC2022 they must also include a statement of where and when they gave the prior presentation.
2. Outline of the presentation
Description within 3 pages (A4-size, 8×10) (in PDF format)
Attachment of documents allowed as needed
Include a descriptive abstract of the presentation

5) Determination of presenters
Around the end of August, 2022
All who apply will be notified regardless if chosen to present or not.
6) Quota for admission
about 5 presenters for 30 minute slots
about 5 presenters for 15 minute slots
*There is a possibility that it may change depending on the program and time allocation.
7) Time allocated per presentation
30-minute slot
Presentation at the venue (25 minute presentation with 5 minute Q&A)
Presentation via recorded video distribution (30-minute presentation with No Q&A)
15-minute slot
Presentation at the venue (15-minute presentation with No Q&A)
Presentation via video distribution (15-minute presentation with No Q&A)
Details such as the time will be announced after the selection.
The delivery time of the presentation will be decided by the RubyWorld Conference Executive Committee.
Presenter time slot preferences will be considered but are not guaranteed.

9) Honorarium
When it is selected and announced on the day, we will pay 30,000 yen (tax included) per person (group) as an honorarium.
10) Perks for presenters
Contents of the presentations are to be posted on an official web site as well as published in a guide book to be created by the Executive Committee of RubyWorld Conference 2022 with the presenter’s agreement.
Invite to the Reception Party on the first night of RubyWorld Conference 2022 [Thursday, November 10th] *There is a possibility that the contents will be changed or canceled.
Presenters are exempt from the registration fee to attend RWC2022.
More details will be provided after determining presenters
11) Burden of expense
All expenses, for attending, applying and/or presenting, at the conference will be the responsibility of the attendee or presenter.
